top summer nail varnishes

Hello again!

I was having a real struggle thinking of a post to do for this week and as i was pondering round
boots and super drug i decided to splurge on some new nail varnishes ( especially with the 3 for 2 offer on some brands ) i thought i'd sort out my nail varnishes and invest in some new ones.
Here are a few that i've tried and been loving:

1. Rimmel Salon Pro , Happy Evie After: rrp £4.49 www.boots.com/en/Rimmel-Salon-Pro-Nail-Polish_1314153/ 
First of all the brushes on these nail varnishes are my favourite , its like a curved square and it fits perfectly to your nails and avoids getting nail varnish all around your nail beds. The colour is also a nice compromise of pinky coral, its not a bright orange shade but more of a pinky orange so is a lot more wearable for daytime so if like me you don't like gare-ish colours, i'd recommend this. It also didn't chip for at least 5 days ( yay for low maintenance ).

2. Tanya Burr's Nail polish, Little duck: rrp £5.99 Tanya Burr Nail Polish Little Duck 

I'm so glad i found this nail varnish! Pale mint green is my favourite colour and many of the other nail varnishes this shade are quite intense or bright green but this is the perfect shade, its such a pretty pastel green. I find applying two coats and a top coat and this nail varnish can last for days with little chipping and is perfect to wear on a sunny day ( or showing off a post holiday tan ) , it also gives off a perfectly matte texture and isn't to shiny. i love it so much its all I've been wearing the past two weeks and i've almost run out , i'll definitely be repurchasing this!

3. Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy , lady luck : £6.99  www.boots.com/en/Revlon-ColorStay-Gel-Envy

Revlon i find is the best brand for nail varnishes that are chip resistant, i bought two shades ( a navy blue but this is my favourite ) alongside a extra life no chip top coat and no word of a lie 8 days my nail varnish lasted! anyway , back to the colour i'm always a bit wary or bright pink and bright red nail varnishes so if like me you're not so daring i would fully recommend this colour its such a nice mixture between the two, i originally wore this for a friends birthday party and i got so many compliments. It's just such a go to everyday shade all year round but is much more noticeable in winter, it has that pastelly edge to the pink that makes it much more summer approachable but also a tiny bit of shimmer for special occasions, i just can't get enough.

Skin & Hair-care swaps/saviours

This post is dedicated to the weather, as its getting warmer i thought i'd change up my skincare faves for some more refreshing alternative that i've seen floating around the beauty blogging community and these ones came up on top!!

The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Balm-£12.00
I picked this up in one of the recent 40% off sales because i've just finished my liz earle cleanse and polish  (sad times) , ive heard several beauty guru youtubers rave about this www.youtube.com/velvetgh0st especially! and I wondered how this one compares and wanted to try it for myself. I've got to say, although Emma Hardies' cleansing balm is all the rage i think for its price this is just as good and the camomile is really calming on the skin , so i'd recommend if like me you've got sensitive skin this is the one.
Living Proof Shampoo/Conditioner/Styling Cream Samples
Last time I was at Sephora I cashed in my points for a Living Proof haircare set. I’m going through a phase of using all my samples at the moment and I came accross these so thought i'd wash my hair with the last night ( instead of my usual toni&guy) and I really liked them! My hair is really soft now, not to silky but definitely makes your hair feel thoroughly cleansed, worth considering! and I especially liked the Styling Cream. Available at Sephora.
Lanolips Herbal Body Treatment Oil-£9.99
I'm an avid lover of lanolips lip balms so when i saw this on the shelves i thought id give it a whirl. Normally I’d use this kind of thing before fake tanning or after shaving, but on the packaging it says its ultra nourishing. It’s more like a dry-oil  ( similar to body shops brazil nut oil ) once rubbed into the skin and sinks in very quickly. I think oils are alot better to use in the summer compared to moisturisers as they aren't as heavy on the skin. The scent is insane also, its pine, eucalyptus and violet leaf. Usually oils can be used not just as a moisturiser but also a bath oil, massage oil, skincare product and for use on extra dry skin. I got this as part of a 3 for 2 on lanolips at boots so get them while you can.

I also recently splashed out and bought myself the Clinique turnaround revitalising Serum.
After buying a new toner ( Lush breath of fresh air spray ) , my skin felt clean and dirt-less if that makes sense and i love it so much but after a while it was making my skin feel quite tense and tight/dry so i went into john lewis and thought id give this a go, and im so glad i did. This serum is light on the skin, it sinks in within a matter of minutes but my cheeks have never felt so soft. You apply a small amount after cleansing and before your moisturiser day and night, 2 days in and i already noticed a difference. Although a little pricey at £37-50, taking care of your skin is so important, so i look at it as an investment... thats what i tell myself anyway!
REN Vita Mineral Lip Balm-£9.00
Last but not least . After obsessing over REN's cleansing milk for the past trillion centuries when i heard they did a lip balm i was like woooo. The emphasis on MINERAL lip balm is what stood out to me, hyrdration is key for summer time ( eating lots of ice cream can be intense on the lips ;) ) and it’s also in a convenient tube so it’s perfect to just slip in a bag when going to the beach or just to the park. It has a slight honey fragrance which is actually very nice ( but not edible, you are warned from experience...) . I'm so glad i found this, i think this is something that could definitely be used all year round also.

Spring/Summer skincare must-haves!

As its firmly into the spring time and the clocks have gone forward its time to update and revive the skincare for spring summer time woooo wooooo , after a recent feel unique.com splurge i thought i'd show you my latest.

Firstly Hydraluron Moisture Jelly £16.16. Coming from the same brand, Indeed Labs, that gave us Hydraluron, which I didn’t get on with as i have quite dry skin and i found this not very nourishing. Then the hydraluron moisture mask which i laaaaaved. The concluding thoughts on this are still in the works but firstly the packaging isn't that pretty, there’s no scooping product out of a pot as it’s all mega hygienic. All you do is press down the lid and the gel texture oozes out the top. Light, refreshing and sinks in easily.

The next is from one of my favourite skincare brands, REN. It’s a Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial £30 – it claims but anything that promises good skin in minutes is something I need to try out. It has a weird green texture containing little micro-beads and as you massage it into the skin there’s a faint scent of sherbets but its not edible... just trust me.

Glam Glow Youth Mud £25 is my blackhead booter of choice. It’s a clay mask that I apply around my t-zone to eliminate any blackheads and clear up anything that needs to go. Im usually religiously using my body shop seaweed clay mask and i was running out and this is an AMAZING lightweight alternative! A quick 10 minute treatment that get the job done, although more expensive its definitely worth it, especially after long hot days. 

My most exciting product on this post, the Estée Lauder CC Creme , its £40 of pure delight. It’s light purple as soon as you squeeze it out the tube ( it doesn't stay that way )  but once you apply it it turns into the colour of your skin tone, GENIOOUUUUUS. A very light coverage which is perfect for spring time , nothing too cakey for when you just want something on your skin and don’t want to feel too naked.

Boscia Balancing Facial Tonic $24 after borrowing Estées every night whilst we were in LA I got completely hooked on this minty fresh mist. I can’t explain the feeling of misting yourself with something so fresh but it just feel luxurious whilst being soothing.

Or a cheaper alternative which i am absolutely obsessed with and so glad i repurchased is LUSH's breath of fresh air toner, i was after a new toner and came over this when i was browsing the lush website and i am so glad i did. You can either use it as a toner and spray it onto a cotton wool pad and getting deep into your pores, but for those long spring/summer days its perfect for keeping your face feeling fresh and i'm already repurchasing my third bottle! ( it has rosemary oil in too which makes your face smell so yummy ) and its only £4.25. BARGAIN.

Sun kissed / Bronzed Makeup look

My Makeup: Sun kissed 

Formally being a matte-faced girl my tastes have now changed. After looking at several celeb faces and seeing them look so tanned and all glowy I thought why not try less powder and more dewiness. Here’s what’s giving me the sun kissed glow of the moment…

To start with it’s all about injecting the glow pre-foundation. I went with the All Over Glow by Topshop in the shade Ignite, a bronzy golden shade, it’s incredible and reminds me of something the Victoria Secret models would use ( one can dream ). It blends into the skin so well, dries down to a semi-matte finish but still bounces light off the right places and gives a glow but not massively overpowering. You can then apply foundation  over the top of it. Now for the base, the foundation  is the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation, long-lasting, medium coverage and brings the glow whilst not being too cakey on your face. Is it obvious that I am still living in last summer? 

For my eyes I’ve used the shade Goldmine by MAC, a golden shadow to go along with my glowing base and two new launches by Urban Decay (their Subversion base coat and Perversion Mascara with a layer on top of Benefit 'they're real' mascara. Together making the longest, most fluttery lashes , it makes blinking so much fun its all oooh I'm so mysterious.

I was always very wary of bronzer i felt like without it i looked like one of those japanese geishan women but when i put it on it just looked all patchy. So when I do try and find one I like one that’s not too warm toned that you look orange and not too cool toned that you look muddy so the Topshop Bronzer in Mohawk is perfectly bang in the middle and is matte too so looks so natural on the skin.

For blush I’ve been highly obsessed with the peachy, pink and golden stick that is the Topshop Glow Stick in Spotlight , it’s a swipe and blend product that’s so quick and simple to use. Its the perfect dewy warm shade to go with a tanned blowy look, wink wink. Lastly the Glow Pot Highlighter in Gleam, a tiny pot of golden goodness. It’s seriously pigmented stuff and lasts hours and hours!!

Last but not lease sometimes with this look i find coral lipsticks are perfect such as the revlon lip crayon in 245 audacious but if you're like me and not too daring I find an enhanced natural lip is beaut. I would therefore recommend MAC brave, its my latest obsession and ohwoweeee so pretty. Easy to apply and the colour ties everything in together beautifully and I adore the way it finishes off the look.

Clutch/travel essentials

Hello guys!

Considering it's winter and the party season but also travelling, im going away at the end of Jan and thought I'd share my beauty essentials when you need to pack light/have a small bag!!!

Firstly make up, this is more for a Clutch bag because for holiday unfortunately my fave needs more then this haha! But what a useful tip for this is choosing items that can double up, for example

Here I have mac so chaud lipstick which can too be used to tint cheeks as a blush ( but only a smidge, clowns are not in season ;))

the next is concealer, apart from doing its job it can also act as a contour or highlighter job! Again this is mac in the shade nw20 , the coverage is amazing :)

Third make up is eye pencil, for your eyebrows but can also make do as a eyeliner woo!The one I chose was rimmel but anastasia brow pencil is amazing also!

Next is anti bac wipes, you never know when you might need these, especially in club or airport toilets!!!

Small purses are a saviour too, fitting your phone, bank card and I'd can be hard in a clutch so a small purse let's you take just the essentials! This is my cath kidson one I got for chrimbo!! (Thanks mum )

Small/compact mirrors are so useful too, especially if you decide to venture with red lippy so you can spot check! 

That little brown thing is a hair clip, which after a sweaty night out or long flight is perfect when hair just gets in the way and you don't want it anywhere near your face!!! Boots is the best for these! 

And lastly something nice smelling! Now, you don't want to take your whole perfume bottle with you so you can either get those mini tubes and fill a little bit in, but my  urrent fave is the body shop body mist in moringa and it smells so good but I chose a mist instead of perfume because then you can spray anywurrrrrrr ( and it smells so pretty )

Beauty-ful presents review!

i hope everyone had a really good christmas and ate loads of chocolate ( i know i did, no shame! ) and then its new years woo, i know everyone says this but i genuinely can't believe its 2015 in a few days ahhhh, i feel so old. Anyway, i thought i would kickstart with a review of some of the popular winter products we got for christmas ( and what to look out for in the sales, hell yeaaahhhh ).

The first thing i got for christmas was 4 mini's of the clinique chubby sticks/ crayons in Woppin' Watermelon, Balm Plushest Punch, Pudgy Peony Grandest Grape 1.2g in a Pink and Silver Bag ( which might i add is super cute and perfectly fits in nail varnishes!! :)).
These were one of my stocking fillers and i know its a little late on the hype and i already have a gajillion of the revlon colour crayons but these are so cute and they fit perfectly in side pockets of handbags and the colour stay is really strong ( withheld my christmas chocolate attacks ) and i found they were really moisturising for your lips but not too thick and gloopy that you can't move your mouth, perfect for withstanding the whole night at partys such as new years, they don't rub off when drinking your... lemonade... but also just the fact they're mini eeee.

The second beauty item i got for christmas was the ole henriksen pure truth melting cleanser, id never seen this before but my auntie recommended it so i thought i'd try it and oh my lawwwwd this stuff is insane, i know there's a massive buzz recently in the beauty blogger world with cleansing balms but this belly stuff is insaaaane, before when removing my make up i would double cleanse with liz earle cleanse and polish and then a cleansing face wash to make sure all the impurities were removed but with this belly stuff you just gently apply it to your face all over and then wash off with a hot flannel and its all gone, thank you beauty santa! massive kudos to you with love from , my face. ( although i'm still searching for one just as good for eyes, rubbing jelly in your eyes is bad kids )

beauty santa got this for me from germany but i found it in the reduced section of selfridges ( again, you're welcome ) from £24 to £21.60 woooooo i love sales.

and a third and final thing ( i didn't want to bore everyone, Ill let you get back to your christmas chocolates in a bit ;) ) that beauty santa got me for christmas was the soap and glory gift set of sugar crush, it had the body butter, scrub and shower lotion with a doofer to wash with. This scent by soap and glory is honestly incredible but the body scrub has similar qualities to the sanctuary oat scrub but the scent makes you smell like a walking angelic fruit bowl ( i don't work in PR i promise , with similes like that ) it just smells of lime and goodness and having every single shower/body  essential smelling of it is what dreams are made of!!
and boots are now selling all gift sets half price so it is now reduced from £18 to £9 , PRAISE THE LAWD FOR SALES MMMMMMM MMMM

Winter must haves!

Finally! I am sitting down to write a blog post. The past few weeks have flown by due to my hectic schedule and ( moving doesnt help things ) I feel like blogging always takes a back-seat when I get busy (which is most of the time - sorry blog!)

Christmas is my fave time of year ( waaaay over my birthday even ) so i've been seeing so many recommended winter lipsticks etc and i just had to buy them all ( it was a need ). So i thought i'd do a little post on the best winter products out in the beauty world right now!! :)

The first products i'd like to recommend are lush bath bombs!! ( i know EVERYONE talks about lush but i recently made a huge order with all the christmas limited edition and mmm mmm my bathroom has never smelt so amazing )
I thought i would just do them as collective products, i know when i first started buying lush after the rave reviews some of the products were on the pricey side but not all.
So the two i'd like to recommend are firstly the Butter bear, Oh my word mmm. Its one of the cheaper lush products but by no means least impressive. Its got cocoa butter in it so it makes your skin so unbelievably soft and doesnt have an over-bear-ing scent ( sorry i couldnt resist ). I dont know if it is a winter exclusive but it is the most adorable bath bomb and doesnt leave your skin all oily and over moisturising , it soaks in just right.

( i mean just look at the cuteness, imagine that whizzing around your bath!! )

The second one i'd recommend is star light star bright, i admittedly got given this as an early christmas present ( i know its early but i just had to open it ) and this is one of the bath melt products.
 Its got quite a warming soaky smell if thats possible, but the best feature is the glitter!! my oh my does it get everywhere! word of warning you end up being a bit of a walking disco ball for the best part of three days but the goodness it does for your skin is so worth it! its such a nourishing product and makes your skin feel so unbelievably soft!! Having this in the bath with a good book and some cinnamon candles and you're in christmas heaven!

The next winter product i'd like to recommend is the Umberto Giannini dry ends hair oil.
As somebody with not only long dry hair but also recovering from my bleached ends of ombre hair so i was after a hair oil that would protect and strengthen my ends. I'd tried more keratin oils then you could shake a stick at and all i found made my hair not only look greasy but just feel really stripped and un nourishing. THIS IS THE ONE I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!

Umberto Giannini : Mend My Hair Therapy Intensive Damage Repair 5-in-1 Oil 100ml

It doesnt make your hair feel dry and un nourished but back to before it was dry and acts also as a heat protector and still has keratin in to strengthen it and not just look soft. So overall, for winter when hair is a bit more suceptible to damage and dryness this is an absolute life saver.

In terms of skincare the moisturiser which i always turn to for winter is the Clarins Moisture rich body lotion.
I have naturally dry skin normally but at winter it gets particularly dry and winter weather isnt very good for it but its hard to find a lotion that doesnt take half an hour to soak in properly and actually nourish your skin.
I find that this has all those qualities! it doesnt leave a oily smuthery aftermath on your skin, your skin feels thoroughly nourished afterwards ( and the smell is quite nice too , little perks! ) Its so easy to apply and really does your skin wonders in the colder months.

although slightly on the expensive side i find Nivea Body Rich nourishing moisturiser has similar qualities, however it is slightly thicker in texture to apply it still is almost equally quick to sink into the skin.

and Finally, last but not least a must have for the winter months , particularly this season is a dark plum lipstick!
I was really hesitant to try this phase of lipstick but eventually giving in a bought a few and this i found was the best and didnt compromise your complexion and make your lips look too OTT.

This is ordered from the asos website and its the Illamasqa lipstick in Glamore, Vampette. Its the most beautiful deep plum shade, the texture on the lips is so lovely and has really nice long lasting pigments and doesnt fade within the first hour! Another reason why i chose this particular lipstick is because its a much richer purple and darker, most plum lipsticks have an overiding purple or reddy tinge which i find quite distracting from the make up.

However i found a cheaper high street alternative which love almost as much! Infact i bought this one first to pilot the lipstick and see if i was brave enough to buy vampette!
Its Rimmel Lasting finish lipstick in heather shimmer, its a more glossy lipstick and doesnt have such a dark deep purple, so a bit better if you're like me and not very daring!
